This happens when the hot and neutral wires get flipped around at an outlet, or upstream from an outlet. Reversed polarity creates a potential shock hazard, but it’s usually an easy repair.. Asking big, bold, exploratory questions isn’t always an activity that’s rewarded in adulthood. From preschool to high school, children move away from questions motivated by intrinsic wonder to those motivated by potential applications cheap nfl jerseys.

Queen of Sheba

A few weekends ago, David and Laura met up with me and Ken at Queen of Sheba, an Ethiopian restaurant in Hell’s kitchen. I’ve never had Ethiopian food but I love the idea of eating with your hands, so I was totally down for the restaurant when David suggested it. Ethiopian food is served on a sponge-like sourdough pancake called injera:

The injera serves as the plate and the proteins and vegetables are piled on top of the injera. You get additional injera on the side so you don’t have to break apart the plate when you are first starting to eat:

The meats and vegetables were all delicious – the meats are somewhat spicy and stewed for a long time until the flavors all meld together – it has a similar taste to Indian foods (some of the curries). Here’s our order of chicken going into the middle of the plate:

We ordered way too much food and ended up taking home just as much food as we ate because the service was so slow…by the time our desserts came out, our main course was also coming out (very weird timing issues at the restaurant). Their desserts were good (not great):

The pudding was much better than the baklava, which was a little on the dry side. Ken and I really enjoyed the dinner and definitely want to go back soon – it’s cramped and very dark in the restaurant but such a fun experience to share with friends!

On Saturday, Ken and I went to dinner in Koreatown with his sister, Flo, and her family. After dinner, we went to Spot Dessert Bar to get something sweet. Ken ordered the chocolate molten cake with matcha filling and matcha ice cream:

Charley ordered red velvet cheesecake, Paul ordered bubble tea and we also ordered some desserts for the table:

The chocolate cake was so delicious, especially since it combines two of my favorite things in the world: dark chocolate and green tea! Spot Dessert Bar has another location in the East Village (sadly, the first location in the west village closed a while back). Since this is so close to my office, I definitely want to return!

Protein Shakes, AKT IN MOTION and MAN CAMP!

Ken and I have been working out a lot in preparation for our wedding (only 70-some days away!) After our workouts, we make really great protein shakes that are really healthy using my new favorite type of protein: pea protein. Here’s one of the shakes we make:

Protein shakes

Ingredients are super easy to find: unflavored pea protein powder, frozen strawberries, frozen pineapples, and coconut water. We usually use 8 ounces of coconut water (per person), 1/4 cup of each type of fruit and one scoop of protein powder a person. Just put everything into the blender:

And blend until smooth:

The workouts we have been doing are super fun and perfect for upcoming brides and grooms – on Saturdays, I take my usual AKT IN MOTION class while Ken takes MAN CAMP next door! My class is an hour and a half and does all types of cross training that works out your entire body; Ken’s class also involves cross training and when I was looking at him working out, he had a puddle of sweat in front of him from working out so hard! Saturday’s are the only days that there’s a man camp and a women’s AKT in Motion class at the same time, but as soon as their studio opens, I hope there are more classes at the same time for both men and women! Ken always watches me go through my dances after he finishes his class and it’s always fun to show him the dance routine I’ve just learned. The other women also have their significant others waiting for them! After class, we either make the protein shake from above or get a protein-packed meal at a nearby diner; it’s the perfect way to start our weekend.

Bestowed.com

Bestowed.com was kind enough to send me a box of healthy product samples:

Untitled

I absolutely love this idea – similar to Birchbox.com, Bestowed.com sends users a box of different product samples every month – Bestowed.com focuses on healthy foods that are new and interesting.

Ken and I enjoyed eating these different samples (there were so many!) and I definitely love the idea of getting something new each month. The best part: Bestowed sends everyone an informational sheet of the benefits of each product they offer so you don’t have to look it up online. I hadn’t heard of some of these foods (coconut butter and hemp hearts) but liked both of them!
