Two weeks ago, Ken and I attended the party to announce the 2016 Michelin Guide for NYC restaurants. We had such a great time last year (the party was at Gustavino’s and I recapped the event here). This year, the party was held at Manhattan Classic Car Club on Hudson, which was very fitting considering the Michelin brand is all about tires!

The format this year was a little different – last year, they sent out the list of all restaurants that made the list before hand; this year, however, they decided to wait until close to when the party started to send out the list to build anticipation. The restaurant chefs were notified beforehand but the press was surprised. Last year, they did stations for some of the Michelin stars (not sure how they picked the restaurants that were allowed to cook at the event but everything there was awesome), this year, however, it was catered and more of a party atmosphere.

The new Michelin-starred chefs received their Michelin jackets in a small ceremony and then all of the Michelin-starred chefs joined them on stage for a champagne toast:

We saw all of the archived Michelin guides of New York:

And also enjoyed some Macallan while eating Georgetown cupcakes:

The event was very enjoyable – with some celeb-chef sightings (David Cheng, Eric Ripert, Jean Georges, and Thomas Keller to name a few!) Here’s the full list of Michelin-starred restaurants for 2016 – so glad Sushi Yasuda made the cut!!
