All About Grace

Hi, my name is Grace and I like to eat. I started this blog in 2006 (a continuation of my xanga) to keep in touch with my family and friends. At the time, my brother was in California, my mom was in North Carolina, my dad was in Taiwan, and my friends were all in Chicago (the only change since 2006: now, David and I live together in NYC!) Gracenotes NYC was a way to keep my friends and family up-to-date about my new and exciting life in New York City.

I moved to New York after I graduated from the University of Illinois. Here I am with one of my roommates, John, at graduation:

I worked as an SAP consultant for two years (I moved here to become a consultant because I thought it would be cool). However, as a consultant, I was barely ever in NYC (weekly trips to Secaucus, NJ, Islip, LI, and Detroit, MI prevented me from enjoying all the city has to offer). I jumped ship and now work as a business analyst at a start up based in NYC.

Gracenotes NYC has developed through my time in NYC; when I first moved here, I lived in an apartment that didn’t have a kitchen and I never cooked. Now, I have a small (although adequate) kitchen that allows me to post about recipes I make every week! One of my more popular posts is an instructional guide of how to make dumplings. Here I am with some friends making them from scratch:

I still enjoy eating out and have a goal to dine at every Michelin starred restaurant in NYC this year. Here’s my list of places I’ve visited already. Here I am at one of the best restaurants in NYC, Le Bernardin:

In addition to restaurant reviews and recipe posts, I also occasionally do product reviews. If I ever review a product, I will disclose whether or not it was given to me and will be honest in my reviews. Also, I’m starting to post videos occasionally, so check back often!

As you can see from my posts, family and friends are very important to me. Here’s my family at Christmas:

And some friends at my Thanksgiving party (an annual tradition):

I love throwing dinner parties and organizing fun (and scientific) competitions. So far, we’ve had a cupcake cagematch:

And the Fro-yolympics.

Thank you for stopping by my little corner of the web – I hope you enjoy my blog and please send me an email (gracenotesnyc at gmail dot com) if you have any questions, have a restaurant you’d like for me to review, or just want to say hi!
