Our dinner at the Inn at Meadowood was really wonderful – Angie, John and I did the tasting menu that included a lot of fun dishes (including our first amuse bouche, a small puffed pocket that resembled a Totino pizza roll). We had a great view of the golf course, fun conversation (including awkward pauses when our dishes arrived because we thought the waiters were listening in on our conversations…and possibly hitting on John). The dishes:
Vegetables from their garden:
They presented these dishes on books that were written about the vegetables from the Meadowood garden:
These were kale with saffron:
Fresh carrot bread bonbons:
Pumpernickel macarons:
Our first official course was whipped yogurt with pickled plum shiso:
A close up of the shiso leaves:
Aji cured in green tomato, artichoke, almond:
Potatoes cooked in beeswax, assorted sorrels (my favorite):
Sour pasta borage, geoduck, clam, dills:
A fun presentation of day lily, lobster and caviar:
Their delicious homemade rolls with sea salt:
Cod, peas, mustard and spring onions:
A closeup of the spring onions:
Bouillon of roasted meats (pre-Bouillon):
Chicken whelk, turnip green, juniper:
John being plated the cote de boeuf, morels in kasu, dried oyster nettles:
More delicious bread:
Cheddar, malt, caramel, broccoli and brown butter:
Transitioning to the sweeter fare with the koji sorbet, unripe apricots:
And the most delicious dessert I have EVER tasted, the chocolate cherry tart:

We finished with a candy dish filled with candies (where everything was edible, including the wrappers that were made of gold and silver and the plastic-looking wraps!)
Afterwards, we did a tour of the open kitchen and complimented the chefs on their taste in music (because it was a combo of easy listening and hip hop. The chefs all take turns playing their iPods):
I really loved all of the dishes, especially because they were mostly light and had multiple variations of fish and only one serving of heavy meat. The dessert was amazing (I’m still thinking about it!) and we had such a fun time together. One thing I loved about Meadowood was all of their plates – I asked if we could buy them somewhere but they’re made by someone locally specifically for the restaurant from clay that’s found in the area. I loved all of it and wished they sold it at the restaurant!
