Running in Washington, DC
Over the weekend, Ken and I took a short trip to Washington, DC because I was standing up in my friend’s wedding! We arrived on Friday afternoon and since we wanted to make the most out of the short trip, we quickly unpacked and put on our running clothes so we could run around the city. We were staying at the Ritz-Carlton (where they had their wedding) so we started running towards the sites and figured we’d run to see the sites and then go to Georgetown because we had to pick up studs for Ken’s tuxedo. We started at the Lincoln Memorial:
Then we ran along the mall to the Washington Monument:
It’s currently under repair from an earthquake in 2011, but still fun to see. Then we ran to the White House:
It was a beautiful day outside – not too chilly and very sunny, but I like to run with a hat to keep my headphones in place. Our run reminded us of our two favorite shows – House of Cards and Homeland. There are so many interesting places to see in DC and we tried to run around as many places as we could, but ended after seeing this statue by the White House:
We went back to the hotel, dropped off some studs we purchased along the way, and headed back out to Georgetown, where we walked along M Street, stopped in Dean and Deluca for some coffee, and browsed the shops before heading in for the evening. A good first night in DC!
